Finally setting up my new studio after being without a work space since December.
At the end of last year I moved from Portland back to Northern California, where I grew up. I spent a few shitty months living with my parents and looking for a job, but ultimately ended up landing my dream gig; cutting patterns for a small shop in the Sierras that makes bags and accessories. This move was a big leap into the unknown. I love Portland more than any place I’ve ever been, but kept getting edged out of the interview process by more experience candidates. I miss the friends I made in school, the art scene that comes with living in a city, and the borderline-absurd Portlandia style hijinks. But I found a job I love and and am paying the same price for a two bedroom house (near what passes for a downtown here) that I was paying two years ago for a one bedroom apartment near Laurelhurst Park in SE Portland. Not to mention my studio is an ENTIRE FLOOR of the house (a moment of silence here to thank my amazing and tolerant gentleman friend).
Basically I’m back from my accidental tumbling hiatus and will be blogging as I set up my studio, make new stuff, and generally continue to do weird stuff with fabric.
